AFTER SCHOOL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (ASAP)

 The After School Assistance Program

The After School Assistance Program (ASAP) is a program of the City of Panama City that provides learning opportunities to underprivileged youth and their families who are at-risk of educational challenges and who have a need for a safe haven in the community in which they live. ASAP provides assistance with in-school studies, mentoring and counseling, computer and job training skills, as well as educational field trips, arts & craft, group sports and more.

The Junior Service League supports ASAP by providing volunteer mentors on a continuing basis. The League also coordinates parties for the children including a "Back to School Bash" as well as a Halloween and a holiday shopping experience where children can select and wrap gifts for family members. Most recently, the League purchased a new passenger van for ASAP’s transportation needs as well as remodeled and stocked the "John Wesley Foster" reading room at one of the ASAP locations.
