Junior Service League Makes Donation to
 Take Stock in Children” Program

Funds donated will be 100% matched by Bay Education Foundation

The Junior Service League of Panama City donates $6000 to Bay Education Foundation to support the TakeStock in Children program.  Take Stock in Children is a state-wide program that provides scholarships, mentors and hope to Florida’s underprivileged youth by offering a comprehensive plan for success for selected students culminating in a fully-paid tuition scholarship to a college or a vocational school.  The funds donated by the Junior Service League will be matched by Bay Education Foundation.

“Our organization’s focus is to positively impact the lives of children through meaningful programs, volunteerism and service,” remarked Kara Davis, President, Junior Service League of Panama City.  “We are delighted to make this donation to Take Stock in Children and believe it to complement many of the other projects and initiatives for which we work so closely with Bay District Schools.”

The Junior Service League has a standing history of partnering with Bay District Schools on various community service initiatives. Notably during 2008-9 school year, the Junior Service League’s Child Service Center provided over 1000 deserving Bay District school children with seasonally appropriate school uniforms and play attire for free.

Also during the 2008-9 school year, the Junior Service League pioneered the “Excellence in Education” grants.  Funded entirely by the Junior Service League of Panama City and administered through the Bay Education Foundation Classroom Grants program, the “Excellence in Education” grant program enables teachers to implement original and creative learning experiences beyond the basic curriculum in school budgets.  During this inaugural year, the Junior Service League awarded 31 deserving educators each a $500 grant for a total donation of $15,500.
